Finished!

So here they are - the last few process shots, I finally got around to finishing them. The last few steps included making soles, attaching heels, and adding eyelets and lace. Apologies for the delay life just totally got in the way! Better pictures of these beauties coming soon. I will be adding videos on the @higheelshighhopesblog and on the @madebykirenmodi Instagram.

Marskinryyppy

A bit of a tongue twister hey? This fashion shoe brand named after a Finnish alcoholic beverage aptly titled 'The Marshall's Shot' launched in AW15 was desinged by Texan Born footwear designer Nicole Brundage. A student from the Istituto Marangoni this Switzerland based brand likes to have a playful yet elegant take on footwear and I can only imagine this is down to her training and work with Zac Posen and Manolo Blahnik. The footwear is produced in Italy and ranges from around $400 to $795 and you have the options of customisations for the heel heights, colours and even personalised messages on the actual shoe it selfI'm excited to see this brand grow and see what the next collection will grace us with.

The Book Review: 10/12 October Edition

#Girlboss

by Sophia Amoruso

Where do I start with this book? Maybe a disclaimer since the most recent news on Sophia Amoruso doesn't bode well with the great review I originally wanted to give this book. Since Amoruso declared bankruptcy a couple weeks back I have been contemplating writing this review at all, since the whole book advocates savy spending, and the rise of the Nasty Gal empire that all started from selling a stolen book on Ebay. The book should be classed as a motivational yet down to earth guide on how to make money responsibly, I was shocked by the bankruptcy news especially since reading the book made you perceive Amoruso as highly intelligible and a business minded woman. In all honesty I wouldn't be surprised if this 'bankcruptcy' was more of a smart money aware move like just like 50 cent had done a couple months back. Not to mention the looming netflix documentary thats set for release in 2017 - you know the age old saying; bad publicity is good publicity,
Stella luna - The celebs new go to designer

The usual players in the footwear world dominate red carpet events but Stella Luna the new kid on the block with her fresh exquisite designs are totally creating a riot! Seen on bloggers and celebrities alike this new brand has had a warm reception and will surely become a house hold name along with seasoned veterans Jimmy Choo and Manolo.

New Dark Colourways for Those Yeezy Season 3 boots

Now I know these shoes have been a bone of contention in the fashion world, and personally I'm not a huge fan but I can totally see the necessity to have them because they are taking the catwalks and streetstyle photography by storm. BUT you'd be pleased to hear the Yeezy season 3 boot originally only seen in nude hues have now been released in darker hues and even a black mesh version which are actually the only pair I absolutely LOVE! so go on have a scroll!

Burak Uyan

I have been steadily following the rise and rise of the growing label Burak Uyan. I intially spotted this designer when I saw an image in the Shoe Calendar I received for christmas. He has now been endorsed by none other than Anna Dello Russo and we all know thats huge! She wore his footwear at last seasons fashion month and totally rocked them. His new collection is seriously awesome and definitely worth checking out ahead of the likely buzz that will soon surround this beautiful label!

...more progress

So I know last week I promised I would have the shoes completed but that was all until my birthday weekend happened and before (the real culprit) alcohol happened. This year was the first year since my dad passed away that I really wanted to go out and celebrate so in true Kiren style I went all out, and basically wrote off the whole weekend and totally had no time to make anything. So yesterday was the first day that I got around to making any real progress and this was the outcome; basically a whole chunk of the most challenging part done and dusted (yippee) Since I went back on my word this week I wont be making any more bold statements about when they will be finished, but just know you guys will have the first peek when they are!

Pattern Making Process

So this week I have been working on the patterns for the pair of heels I had designed for Wednesdays post just gone. Im hoping by Sunday I should have them pretty close to finished (they should be up on the blog next Wednesday since its my birthday weekend) so on that note enjoy the progress pics and hold tight for the finished beauties! :)

This weeks handmade Project

I bought some gorgeous leathers while I was in Hong Kong and in attempt to just use them I've decided to design and make a pair of shoes that I've had in my head for ages. So here are my initial sketches - I like showing my draft sketches because they show development and just how difficult it is to get the design spot on especially on your first go. I managed to get to the pattern making stage and Im aiming to get these shoes finished by the end of the week. Stay tuned for updates on this project through out the week.

Embroidery Eruption!

If you havn't noticed already - the seasons most sort after shoes are the baroque or embroidered style of choice. At the last Lineapelle expo I attended in London, this trend by far was the most appealing to me and seemed like the trend to dominate next seasons shoe drobe! I have gathered up my favourite embroidered booties and shoes  for the winter wardrobe for you to feast your eyes on.(wohooooo I can go back to wearing all black and let the boots do all the talking!)
