Vetements X Manolo Blahnik

So this collaboration finally dropped in stores last week and what a delight they are! Mow they aren't what you would expect of Manolo Blahnik, in that they are simply designed with a classic court shoe sillhouette but in true Blahnik style they are made from satin upper and my guess is that this along with Blahniks signature scribbled on the side is exactly what Vetements was looking for in collaboration. Vetements is know for its laid back fashion, the type of fashion you'd see trendy people living in Shoreditch or Brooklyn wearing so this collaboration is a nice little partnership of sexy footwear with uber cool clothes.

So last week Megan and I had a super productive couple of days working on our collaboration. We finalised the bead selection and the designs we are working on. WOOHOO! So this week was all about the production. The bead work, understandably takes a little while to do so Megan made an early start with sample ideas and I carried on with making sure the pattern fitted snug onto the foot. Without giving too much away the outcome is looking pretty spot on to what we both visualised. Megan has also introduced me to the most amazing trimming store in Soho which I can't get enough of so Im pretty sure i'll be heading there more often too. Now the pics don't give too much away as we want to keep that a little secret until we launch so for now above is one of the sample embellishments Megan has been working on along with some of the colour ways we have decided to work with! collaboration update!

Last week on Tuesday Megan and I had a catch up on with our collaboration to fine tune the details of our project together. We made some good headway with a few designs especially with confirming the colour ways we liked and the possible embellishment combinations we liked. We both sat feeling super excited as we discussed it and can't wait to get started on the actual making. Megan has already made some progress on the beading combinations we both liked and are planning to meet again on Tuesday to start the actual making progress. SO EXCITING. For now here are some the designs and embellishments we have been working on.

Giuseppe X Jennifer

I have been a huge fan of Jennifer Lopez since her On the 6 album - I had the CD and vividly remember the cover, to this day its still relevant and classic and she is STILL as beautiful as ever! I dont know how she does it?!? This collaboration was simply inevitable, Jennifer or Jenny as I like to call her (LOL) is a huge Giuseppe fan and has been spotted in his footwear regularly through out the years. The collection will consist of two luxe handbags that will fit into the beige  pastel and grey colour way that they have chosen for the footwear. The collaboration is set to launch on January 23rd so keep a look out!

A year ago I modelled in a fashion show which exhibited the finest in Indian wedding attire, which is where I met Megan, little did I know that a whole year later (weirdly to the day) we would meet up to collaborate on something pretty special. Megan - the queen of embellishing has kindly offered up her talent and time to add that little something special on a few up and coming projects. First up a pair of shoes, of which we have both started to design. Excited is an understatement I have been eager to get my teeth into a new project and learn a new skill and this must be it! I've always loved embellishment, whether its on footwear or clothing - it just adds luxury and intrigue, like how on earth have the beads been stitched on? and I wonder how long thats taken to do? I guess all my questions will soon be answered, I can't wait to start working with Megan on this project - keep your eyes peeled. For now here are some of the ideas we have been playing around with and most importantly some of Megan's beautiful work.

Denim Desserts by Rihanna

A collaboration that is bound to be an instant sell out is my prediction. I couldn't think of a better partnership, for me there has a been an undercurrent of adoration thats been slowly picking up pace since the release of her song Work, and you simply can't do wrong when you have the god of heels by your side designing your collection. The collection is made up of 6 pieces, aptly named Denim Desserts by Rihanna since the uppers are made from - yep you've guessed it, denim! They are set to be released on May 5th and available in Manolo's London, New York, and Hong Kong stores.

BEYONCE X GIUSEPPE

I was blissfully unaware of the most epic shoe collaboration between Beyonce and Giuseppe Zanotti until a couple days ago when a good friend of mine had told me. How did I not hear about this enormous collaboration? (Once I was over not knowing) I did some research and found the reason they have been snapped together so much of late is because not only have they been working on a pair of shoes but Zanotti has been busy building his empire by adding another store to his already long list of store openings. 

It's been reported that they have been working on a a pair of shoes for some time now and we should be expecting their release very soon. This collaboration comes as no surprise as their relationship has flourished over the years as Zanotti previously worked on the footwear for Beyonce's Mrs Carter Show  World Tour concerts. The shoes have been described as being a pair of "ultra thick platform stilettos" and Zanotti insists Beyonce has had complete control over the creative direction every step of the way. I can't wait to see the shoes - they'll be nothing short of amazing. Keep your eyes peeled for the release!
