Manolo Blahnik 'Art of Shoes' Exhibition - Milan

This brought FAR too much excitement to my life when this piece of news was released! The only downer though? The exhibition isn't coming to London :(!!! BUT! this could be another reason to travel. The exhibition will be hosted at a number of locations starting in Milan, from Jan 26th to April 9th. It will showcase 212 shoes divided into 6 sections all celebrating Blahniks work as a form of art and showing off Blahniks vision, craftsmanship and creativity. As mentioned the first stop for the exhibition is Milan, other locations include St Petersburg Russia, Czech Republic, Madrid and finally Toronto Canada. As soon as I have further information on this I'll be sure to update you guys!

All Things Mochi!

The summer is ALL about espadrilles, be it wedges or flats; so my first recommendation for you guys is to head straight to all things Mochi! Im totally obsessed with them. They not only have beautifully embroidered footwear but clothing and accessories too. They primarily focus on bright colours in embroidery and one of a kind pieces. They celebrate handcrafted products from local artisans that specialise in embroidered textiles and craftsmanship from all over the world, including India and Africa, their products in my opinion do so well because they have adopted modern aesthetics with western silhouettes and styles that highlight just how amazing the skill involved is. Mochi has to be your first port of call for your summer wardrobe!

Rungg Shoes

When I was in India last year the colours are what really took my interest, embroidery and appliqué along with beading is something that India is well known for and with all of these components put together with contemporary current themes and trends I believe you can have something visually very beautiful. The craftsmanship found in India is unparalleled to any other, footwear manufacture is an industry sector of India thats a thriving hub for fast fashion brands so when I was told about Rungg shoes, I was thrilled to see a brand thats fashion forward with modern designs utilising the local craftsmanship available. Now I don't know about you but I think the market for footwear found for indian attire is flooded with extremely chincy, far to sparkly and out of fashion designs, that don't compliment the beautiful outfits that are typically worn with them. The western and indian fusion area of fashion is something thats quite niche and when done well can really sell. (you only have to go to Monsoon or Accessorize to figure that out) and I think Rungg shoes have done just that. The collection is  thoughtfully designed and it couples quintessentially western design with beautiful hand embroidered uppers showing off the skill set of the craftsman involved. I absolutely adore them and I think this brand has a huge amount of potential. What I love about them the most is their versatility. I can see them matching a western outfit just as much as an outfit for an asian event be it a wedding or temple visit. Finsk

London based footwear brand Finsk first launched in 2004 with Finnish footwear designer Julia Lundsten heading up the design direction. The Finsk allure is due to the unique modern design that's avant-garde and most importantly wearable. Many of the conceptual designers I tend to post about have great ideas and really provoke the design boundaries, however they're sometimes unobtainable or unachievable in the commercial environment. Finsk fill that gap with exceptionally handcrafted footwear made in Brasilian ateliers with local craftsman that have honed in on traditional shoe making methods and techniques that conform to the Finsk brand. The materials are locally sourced, from the leather to the sculpted wood work to keep the production line as ethical as possible.
