Handmade Sliders X 2

So this week I have been keeping busy, I have managed to finish off two pairs of shoes, a pair I started a week ago and a pair i started a couple months back that I never had the chance to finish off. I love them both! One thing is for sure I'm improving and learning new tricks as I make more and more shoes, which is great and a fab new shoedrobe too - wooop! Since we've been having a wonderful couple days these sliders I'm sure will see a few days out before we hit Autumn. The next few pictures show my last few steps for the tassel sliders and the completed gold acid splash leather sliders.

Espadrille Mania

The 11th of April was the beginning of my USA holiday count down. With 2 months to go (yes I know the count down has started early! Im just super excited to get back into some sun!) I have decided to plan my footwear, especially the ones I want to make. I know that espadrilles are huge hit in the summer, and with new trends always changing the style of them, I thought now would be the best time to get started. (the stitching is always time consuming) Yesterday I did just that, I started by designing the patterns and cutting them out and then on to the stitching. I took a few shots along the way, so you could see how its done! Enjoy!

Handmade Pointy Lace up Flats

I finally got around to finishing up the pointed lace up flats I made for my sister before I set off for holiday. I wanted to get some great shots outside of the apartment we stayed in especially because of the gorgeous weather and thought she'd actually get the chance of wearing them out there. I put the progress up on my snapchat for every one to see and suddenly realised I had forgotten to save some of them for a process video at the end, so the story is a pretty broken. The last few steps of making these shoes were adding the gold rivets to the uppers, adding the soles and corkfiller then attaching the lace, though it didn't quite go in that order. My first challenge was inserting the gold rivets, in retrospect I should have attached them while the upper was still a pattern piece as I was unable to attach a rivet at the front. Attaching the rivets to the inside of the shoe was difficult but at least manageable, I opted for a small hole punch at the front which doesn't offend me as much as I first thought it might. Funnily enough the easier part of completing these shoes was attaching the soles, which I've started to feel a lot more confident with though I'm still in need of practice. If i do manage to find some process shots of this pairs progress I'll try and get a process video organised, if not please do add me on snapchat to get a more instant update of what shoes I'm making. Im looking into a periscope, one of my good friends insists I should get one so if thats something you guys would prefer please do let me know! xxx

Snake Skin High Heel Sandals

Yesterday was my last full day at the ICMS Studio before getting prepared for Curacao. Now even though I'm totally hyped for it, I always get bogged down with things I need to get done before I leave, this time it was footwear. I wanted to make a pair of high heel sandals, along with espadrilles and complete my sisters flat shoes. I did bits and pieces on the espadrille and the shoes for my sister and managed to complete a whole pair of snake skin high heel sandals. Below are some of my process images and the final outcome. I adore them and can't wait to put them on in Curacao, they took me about 3 hours to complete, with help from my boss. High Heel sandals have an instant satisfaction just because the progress is instantly visible as its a shorter process. I'll be making more in no time!
