The Met Gala  - Louis Vuitton Reigning Supreme

The Met gala is one of those understated events, 6 years ago I'm pretty sure the UK knew very little about this event until of course the Daily Mail started to document the event more carefully. In tradition the event is always given a theme and this year it was Manus X Machina: Fashion in an age of technology and Louis Vuitton reigned supreme dressing almost 7 celebs head to toe in their collection. The stars looked fantastic, a few stand outs for me, as always with Solange Knowles with her unique sense of style emerged in a canary yellow outfit by designer David Laport a dutch designer. The Victoria Secrets Models always look amazing with their svelte figures, but for me the shoe game ruled. Since the theme was futuristic in style it enabled celebs to explore and experiment with their usual style, Selena Gomez is known for always looking very elegant and classic however she surprised everyone with her very relaxed choice of attire for the event on Monday wearing a Louis Vuitton paisley dress and platformed boots. In comparison other celebs wore very elegant intricate couture dresses by Balmain, Posen, Givenchy to name a few with barely there sandals, that had just three minimal straps over the feet, which were totally in line with current trends, I think model Emily Ratajowski did this best in Tamara Mellon Shoes. Below I have picked out some of my favourites from the event - enjoy!

Shoe of the Week

Louis Vuitton : Tribal Collection S/S '09

I know the 'Shoe of the Week' posts have featured a fair few tribal themed shoes but what can I say? I LOVE a statement shoe, and statement pieces best describe me, tribal prints have a special place in my heart, they fit perfectly for the summer (even though we've had a terrible summer) and jazz up any outfit. So thats why this week I have chosen this Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2009 shoe. Bold and beautiful is where we are going with this shoe and why not? Life is for living - do it in amazing shoes is my motto.
Harrods - Shoe Heaven

No department store is complete without a shoe section and with the type of clientele that Harrods attracts you wouldn’t expect anything less than unparalelled luxury for their customers, queue; Harrods - Shoe Heaven space that's 42,000 sq ft, found on the 5th floor of the store with over 100,000 shoes available.

To celebrate the Shoe Heaven opening Harrods have invited some of the top footwear designers from around the world to each design a limited edition shoe as part of their exclusive ‘Silver Lining’ range - yep they are nothing short of luxury - Shoe Heaven you might even call it (ha! get it) and apt for the metallic trend at the moment.
