Shoe of the Week

Marco De Vincenzo

These shoes need no introduction, they're just so flufffffyyyy!! (insert Agnes voice over here) I just love them and they totally stole the show a month back during fashion week. The art deco looking heel adds that little extra pazazz with the fluff just enhancing the whole look of the shoe. Fluffy pom poms and fluff in general have really taken over the fashion appetites recently, especially with brands like Shrimps ethically pushing faux fur on to the fashion scene. I seriously found it difficult to pick a favourite colour, but if I had to it would have to be the pink ones.

Shoe of the Week
Rodarte - Mary Janes

Of late I've noticed a mini trend on the streets that seems to be rubbing off on me too...MARY JANES (no not weed - ha! check Urban Dictionary's definition) the style of shoe that featured on a number of runway shows in the season just gone. Rodarte's Mary Janes were beautiful, metallic and platformed. The reason I love Mary Janes in general? the fact that they have a secure strap around the ankle which helps you avoid those inevitable trip ups on the uneven streets  that plague London. For the SS16 collection Rodarte collaborated with Swarovski creating an extremely sparkly look which complimented the clothing on the runway, they're probably a bit much for a day ensemble, but totally great for an evening look.

SHOE OF THE WEEK
Balmain x H&M

Highlight of the week in fashion world has to be the Balmain x H&M show, it was everything and more, the jaw dropping runway event had every modern supermodel you could think of and in true Balmain style, Rousteing designed a collection that was versatile for fashion obsessed girls - which I'm sure will fly of the rails and shop floors as usual with huge collaborations like this. For the girls who feel the collection was a bit too outlandish for them, they could own accessories - GORGEOUS ACCESSORIES. Which is where shoe of the week comes in! The footwear for this collection is  more commercial, and wearable in comparison to their usual elaborate weaved footwear that graced the catwalk just a couple weeks back. My favourites have to be the thigh high boots just because of the season we are in but the Plaited/weaved sandals are just beautiful which have been appropriately crowned Shoe of the Week. Here are some close ups of whats available in the collection. Just remember that when this collection hits the stores, unless you decide to camp over night, getting your hands on any of these items may become difficult! JUST BE READY!

Esteban Cortazar

Fashion month is over, and it finished with a blast! With my eye on the shoes through out the shows I came across some extravagant beauties, but these Esteban Cortazar platforms caught my eye and stayed with me, which is why they have been crowned shoe of the week! I've always loved embellishment and especially on shoes to add that little bit of sparkle everyone needs to brighten up their day! The colour palette for the shoes matched the collection and completed the whole collection beautifully. I'll be the first person to admit that I hadn't heard of this designer before, so scrolling through all the shows really paid off as I wouldn't have found this gem of a designer. I'm totally mesmerised by these shiny sparkly numbers!

Shoe of the Week

Proenza Schouler

Sadly NYFW is over - boooooo! BUT this only means one thing...LONDON FASHION WEEK is finally here Woooohooo! Fashion week in London is always something I look forward to, its all the best things about fashion all summed up in one week. So it's only polite to say a warm farewell to New York by crowning their golden boys at Proenza Schouler as shoe of the week. The collection was everything and more, the footwear putting the icing on the cake. They're collections have grown from strength to strength with every new investor. Red, white and black were the chosen colours for this collection and this reflected elegantly in the footwear too. As mentioned in previous posts, there have been a number of shows with flats, kitten heels or thick heeled ballet pumps, so while I adore a high heel, these proenza shoes have completely won me over. Thick straps and sliders dominated the collection, but in the theme of strappy shoes (which are here to stay for another season) I have chosen this particular pair as shoe of the week for its versatility with other outfits - obviously because they're black. (I've officially fallen into the 'all black everything' trap).

SHOE of the WEEK

Sergio Rossi  X  Eco Age

The idea of being eco friendly has always seemed like an achievable task with clothing, slightly more expensive but achievable. For any quality footwear brand eco friendly materials I've always thought were rare until very recently when I was introduced to Eco Leather - again slightly more expensive but eco friendly none the less. Actual awareness of its availability or rather its sourcing has come a long way since the 90's and 00's but actually incorporating and making eco friendly materials 'cool' has only really taken off in the last few years where large fashion houses have actively endorsed it use. Brands have become eco aware and are doing as much as possible to fuse these materials into every day life. Sergio Rossi is the first big name in footwear that have actively gone about launching a new "green carpet" footwear collection due for release today! - with only a handful of other independent designers who have done the same. I think its an increasingly important responsibility that all brands should be taking into account so this week (and rightly so) Sergio Rossi X Eco Age collection are crowned shoe of the week. The butterfly inspired, evening shoes were created in Italy using organic silk yarn, woven in Italian factories regulated and validated by GCC and Eco Age - a  brand consultancy specialising in sustainability, headed by Collin Firths wife Livia Firth. This is a huge accomplishment for not only the Sergio Rossi brand but also the Fashion industry - something that will hopefully effectively encourage other footwear and fashion brands to do the same.

Shoe of the Week

Louis Vuitton : Tribal Collection S/S '09

I know the 'Shoe of the Week' posts have featured a fair few tribal themed shoes but what can I say? I LOVE a statement shoe, and statement pieces best describe me, tribal prints have a special place in my heart, they fit perfectly for the summer (even though we've had a terrible summer) and jazz up any outfit. So thats why this week I have chosen this Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2009 shoe. Bold and beautiful is where we are going with this shoe and why not? Life is for living - do it in amazing shoes is my motto.
SHOE OF THE WEEK

GUZEL - FIONA KOTUR

Tassels, snake skin and some sparkle - what is there not to love about these Fiona Kotur shoes? She has done exceptionally well making the move from accessories into footwear. I'm loving the colours and of course the tassels, they are also available in a grey version which are just as amazing and maybe more subtle. Check out her website for the shoes and her clutch bags, she has just released a new bag thats pretty nifty in that it allows you to take pictures with your phone while its still placed in your bag!

SHOE OF THE WEEK

'Sexy Thing' - Aquazurra

Like most 'Shoe of the Week' posts, an explanation isn't really needed as the shoes speak for themselves. These beauties have been chosen because of two main reasons. Obviously one of them being the simple yet elegant design of the shoe, including the subtle and functional wrap up ankle lace (which is bang on trend I have you know!) but also the shear demand for the shoe by celebrities. I have seen every notable A list celeb in them from Kim Kardashian to Gigi Hadid in either the black or nude versions. (the nude is my favourite colour by far) I just love them, I'm massively keen on understated simple and elegant shoes and these shoes tick all the boxes!

so go on have a scroll and see how they are being paired up with different outfits!

MSGM - Tassel Sandals

There's no questioning why these MSGM Tassel Heels have been given the honour of Shoe of the Week. Aren't they just fantastically eccentric? They don't really need much explanation but I'll give you the reasons why I chose them this week. 1) because they're just perfect for the summer and since we have officially entered summer territory I think they're pretty fitting 2) I FREAKING LOVE TASSELS and they're seriously in at the moment and 3) even though they're from a couple seasons back they definitely still have a place in the boyfriend fit, ripped crop jeans department with a simple plain slouchy top!

SHOE OF THE WEEK
'WAYLAND'

There will always be a very special place in my heart for Reiss, 1) it was one of my dads favourite shops and it always reminds me of him and 2) during my uni days I used to work on Saturdays and Sundays in the flagship store on Barrett Street as a sales assistant. I know people often have terrible memories of pain staking hours spent on your feet all day Saturday and Sunday (usually made more of a struggle because of the heavy drinking the night before) but I genuinely enjoyed working there. Changing room duty was one of my particularly favourite jobs to do because it meant helping customers pick out clothes and most conveniently of all standing right next to the shoe and accessories section! The shoes were always so well designed and I always looked forward to new season stock. My work colleagues and I absolutely adored all the shoes and we would all discuss which ones we were going to buy with our next wage and they have brought that feeling back all over again with the 'Wayland'. It has ticked all the boxes for this seasons trends, I just adore them, the monochrome theme is still a trail blazer and I just love the organic pattern on the front. It's sure to jazz up any outfit - be it a casual day time ensemble or an elegant wedding event.

JIMMY CHOO
Maiden Heels

I absolutely love these! The Jimmy Choo Maiden heel in the red snakeskin and white leather is not my usual choice of shoe. I have never been a huge fan of white heels - surprising since I'm from Essex (ha!) but I don't know what it is about this pair that has got me all excited. I love the colour combination, not just for this pair, but for the other two pairs in this range too. I saw them first while scrolling through Pinterest - as you do - (Hi my name is Kiren Modi, and I have a Pinterest addiction - haha) looking for design inspiration. I liked the cut outs around the ankle which made them super sexy, but for some unbeknown reason to me, I absolutely loved the white patent too. (I don't have a clue what's happened to me!) So, I leave you with the image that caught my eyes in the first place, and the other two pairs designed in the same style.
