This weeks handmade Project

I bought some gorgeous leathers while I was in Hong Kong and in attempt to just use them I've decided to design and make a pair of shoes that I've had in my head for ages. So here are my initial sketches - I like showing my draft sketches because they show development and just how difficult it is to get the design spot on especially on your first go. I managed to get to the pattern making stage and Im aiming to get these shoes finished by the end of the week. Stay tuned for updates on this project through out the week.

.....and they're finished!

I cannot wait to get my feet into these shoe, I've been planning outfits in my head as I've been working on them. These are the last few process stages, I wanted to stray away from using the typical high heel strap method (where the front straps are lasted over the insole board) I wanted to tap holes using a punch to make an opening for the straps to be placed through. I also wanted the shoe to be as minimal as possible because the tassels were so beautiful. I'm sure when I've found an outfit perfect for them i'll get a style post ready!

10 Day Challenge...so far

This whole week has been about making and designing. By Wednesday I had 4 shoes designed but hadn't quite settled on the two pairs of heels I wanted to make. I had just about figured the choice of leathers I wanted to use on the footwear and went about making the first few designs because I'm queen of procrastination and didn't want the fact that I couldn't figure out the last few designs to stop me from making. So with nerves and apprehension I present to you my first few steps of my collection so far. (This is only a working project to get me training so the collection isn't quite cohesive but I have tried my best to keep the collection looking like a range!)
