Leather Chokers

A short and sweet post this Monday! Accessory trends are something i have always been interested in, I suppose footwear comes under the accessory category in fashion, but within this, accessories like jewellery are just as coveted as footwear. Leather used within the jewellery section isn't unheard of and of late I have been noticing a trend of sheer simplicity, drum roll please.......a minimal skinny leather band choker. So in the creative mood that I was in last week I have managed to come up with an equally minimalist design made from leather (naturally) that adjusts to all neck sizes. I will be selling them via Depop or taking direct sales for £20.

My Leather choker! £20

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Fashion month is upon us!!! Kicking off at New York.  (you're probably thinking woaaaah that came around quick! - I always feel like that too) It has got off to a great start so with a focus on footwear I have picked out the trends that are going to take Autumn by Storm (ha get it Storm and Fall) Anywho! Since we are only two days in its tough to make a definitive decision on what will filter through to London Milan and Paris however once fashion week hits London I'm sure ill be able to see a more prominent style and trend trickling through. But for now here is a little look at what I have noticed on the runways and from static shows so far.

FUR!!

Like everywhere! Ontop of shoes, on the insoles of shoes so that the fur peeks out (gucci sliders for instance) or like these ICB sliders and trainers.

3 Strap Sandals

I just recently bought a pair from Simmi Shoes in a rose gold pink for super cheap and they look stunning on and look pretty much like these Haney's.

Heeled Chelsea boots

Embroidered and heeled...what else could you ask for from these Rebecca Minkoff boots?

Lineapelle - Trade Fair

The footwear event of the year for London - Lineapelle, was my first time at this type of trade show yesterday; hosted at the quirky and full of character, Ham Yard Hotel. Almost every footwear designer would have attended this expo at some point of their career, whether it was in Bologna or Paris. The trade fair had conferences running through out the day and had three rooms full of leather traders from Italy - some of the best quality leathers I have ever seen. They also offered an array of fixings/fittings for footwear and leather accessories with studs in different shapes, colour and sizes which were beyond divine! For budding designers and shoe makers this was the place to gain as much knowledge and understanding about the forthcoming trends of next season. so for those of you that missed out (for the next trade show in London ill try and give you a heads up!) here are some shots of the slides at the conference and a little round up of the moods and colours that were depicted for  summer '17.

1)

Contemporary pop (think pop art and you are on to a winner!), digital colour world, an ethno (ethnic) - pop approach that mixes cultures and their colours, comic books and video games.

2)

Think of the mood and colours relating to the Mad Max theme, sand, metals rusting surfaces, neutral colours that have a dark mood.

3)

The tones of meditation, pastels, well being, light and airy tonals and lots of pale pinks and pastel greens.

Could you be the next High Heels High Hopes collaborator?

I'm aware that not all women are high heel ladies, sometimes they are  straight up sneaker ladies who wear heels only for certain occasions (what?! I hear you say... "I wear my heels every day and wear them to bed"). This prompted me to do a entry (Once or twice a month) on sneakers. Since they have only really entered my life on a more full time basis with in the last year or so my ears and eyes have adjusted and I'm more aware of kicks, sneakers, chucks, creps (how ever you like to refer to them) trends. However since heels have forever got my heart High Heels High Hopes are looking for a Sneaker contributor - someone who eats and breathes sneaker trends that can contribute to our blog with the latest news on kicks. The contributor would be someone who enjoys writing but who most importantly loves to know whats going on in the world of trainers. If you are that someone or you know somebody that would be perfect for this role head over to any one of social media outlets and get in touch! We'd love to hear from you!

The Shoe Review

Elphick's shoes (for me) sit firmly between the quirk of Sophia Webster with very similar hues of pastel colours and the inspiration and influences of Charlotte Olympia which is quite honestly, right up my street. Elphick was mentored and taught by the best while interning and working with the likes of Nicholas Kirkwood, Donna Karan, Paul Andrew and Topshop to name a few.

So with all of that experience, what better than creating your own eponymous shoe label? launching with her collection for Spring Summer 2015 ‘You got the Luck’ you can see why her debut and graduate collection gained so much recognition and praise. 12 styles are available all inspired by, you guessed it - Luck, all with their own distinctive and catchy names. Below are some of my favourites which are just what you need to brighten up the doom and gloom weather London has had for the last few days. Be aware - they may leaving you felling happy and nostalgic both at the same time!

'Pez Shoe' - (unable to find a stockist for this)

'Clover Heels' - £445 on Avenue 32

The Shoe Review

J o a n n e    S t o k e r

I'm absolutely loving Joanne Stokers 1964 Collection. Inspired by the 60’s she has hit the nail on the head with the designs in this collection. I love animal print on shoes and this has featured and influenced a few of the designs, so of course my favourite shoe in this collection is the herringbone print Brigitte pump.  Though she may be an under the radar new talent to watch out for in commercial respects, she has made some major steps (no pun intended) in the footwear industry since graduating from Cordwainers in 2009. From graduating she fell right into the hands of Jimmy Choo where she was mentored, to designing with Matthew Williamson and Dune.

Stokers 1964 collection is a homage to the 60’s - Think monochrome, geometric, Mary Quant, bold patterns and colours and you’ll get the theme of Stokers inspiration for this collection. Thinking about all those factors would probably get you into a spin and feeling like some of the stoners with daisy chains from that era but I think Stoker has intertwined the essence of the 60’s with a modern day twist perfectly in this collection. So keep your eyes peeled - Stoker will be one to look out for in the very near future.
