Designing

Since I've started my adventure into the footwear industry everything has become about inspiration - how a shoe is made and the leather and finishings used. Generally when I get into design mode I tend to flick through magazines, print off screenshots from my phone or scroll through Pinterest. I get everything down onto a massive A1 board to get all my inspiration and thoughts in one place and start designing from there. However when I went about designing yesterday I already knew what I wanted, it was more about making a mock up and experimenting. I used scrap leather that I had to make up just the right foot so that I could get a sense of the heel height and look. (I have a completely different colour of suede for the final pair in mind, which will take searching for but I was quite taken by the khaki colour by the end of it!) I documented the design process yesterday by taking photos on my phone and camera so I'm sorry for the change in quality of the images. Keep an eye open for the finished pair soon!

Daniele Michetti

As you know I'm always on the hunt for fresh footwear designers; I came across Daniele Michetti as you do scrolling through the explore page on Instagram. The shoes that caught my eye: the gothic purple suede ‘Gaelle' bootie from the AW14 range. I'm an absolute sucker for suede especially in dark khaki and maroons; they just ooze exuberance and elegeance. Michetti from an accessories background, (working for the likes of Burberry Prorsum and Yves Saint laurent) won the ‘Who is on Next’ contest for accessories in 2009 and since then designed his own line of footwear and really worked on growing his eponymous label Danielle Michetti.

Though he isn't quite a newbie given he has been in the footwear industry for quite some time (before I had even laid my eyes on the label) I feel his latest season has really picked up pace and is becoming far more recognised in the commercial fashion industry.

Here are my favourites from the Summer 15 range. They feature a load of woven leathers which I absolutely love in the summer with a gladiator style range - Perfect for keeping cool in the summer days.

Fashion for Relief - Naomi Campbell

To kick off London Fashion Week this season, tonight I will be attending Naomi Campbells Fashion for Relief event, (I have some amazing friends that sorted out the tickets) To say I’m excited is an understatement, and I’d be lying if I said I only picked out my outfit today - I have been thinking about the outfit ever since my good friend told me I was going. Aside from it being such a great cause I figured the fashion elite will no doubt pull out all the stops when it comes to being impecably dressed for the occassion.

I started with a new pastel pink, oversized cable knit, roll neck jumper that I haven't got around to wearing, and because of the dreary weather knew that a pair of jeans were in order, so out came the ripped boyfriend fit jeans. The challenge as usuall was picking out the shoes, I figured the rain would wipe out a lot of my open toe choices, which it did and so I was down to two pairs, a pair of suede cobalt blue pointy courts, or another pair of suede shoes, with a red point toe cap. (both not great for the rain but the only shoes that I own that were partially closed and matched the outfit)
